In case you missed it, rising superstar Hardwell hit 200,000 Twitter followers on Sunday July 22nd. Oh wait, you probably missed that. But more importantly, you may have missed what came as a result of hitting that milestone: a 13-song bootleg package given away for free to show appreciation and love for Hardwell’s fans. The 24-year-old Dutch Progressive/Electro-House producer, DJ, radio host (On Air radio show), and record label owner (Revealed Recordings) has been on an absolute tear for the past year (and longer) and reaching a following that massive certainly isn’t something to shrug off. The guy always seems so happy and so appreciative of all the success he has achieved – his interview after KILLING IT at Ultra Music Festival 2012 shows us that. In 2011 Hardwell was voted the #24 DJ in the world according to DJ Mag’s Top 100. Now, with all his popularity, I fully predict Hardwell to break the top-20 (you heard it here first!).
So let’s get to this bootleg package, shall we? Every track on here is a “bootleg” because they aren’t seeing any kind of official release nor are they official remixes for anyone (that is the difference between a bootleg and an official remix for those unaware). Actually, all 13 tracks are mashups that Hardwell put together either himself or with producers Dannic and MAKJ (Dannic is signed to Revealed Records and I couldn’t find much info on MAKJ). When the whole mashup thing started I couldn’t stand it – I’m someone who prefers original tracks and I started getting sick of Tiesto’s Club Life podcasts because he played so many of them. But then I heard Kaskade’s awesome mashes as well as many live or in mixes and I started getting hooked, culminating with this bootleg package… Or maybe Hardwell is just REALLY good at picking and choosing which songs to throw together…
