Lose Yourself To PRFFTT & Svayble

We got a sick new remix on our hands of “If I Lose Myself” by  One Republic, by the Boston based duo, PRFFTT & Svayble. The two Boston College students began making music together in the summer of 2012 for the Zedd-Spectrum Remix Contest. After their successful first shot at remixing, they ended up placing at #13 out of more than 2,300 tracks that were entered. They now continue to remix tracks as well as make some hot beats of their very own. Being from the Boston area, I thought it was only right for me to make sure I paid some respect to these guys for their amazing talent. Way to represent. If you’re unsure of how to tell your friends about these two, Sam Driver and Sven Benson, their name is pronounced as “PROFIT and SVI-A-BLE”. With this track, they take an already awesome song and make it even better by upping the beat and adding emphasis with builds and drops. You gotta take a listen. You guys can cop a free download if you like what you hear by liking them on their Facebook page! You can also listen to more of their music on their Soundcloud page.

Lucky Date is a Freak

I feel like it’s been a while since we heard from Lucky Date. Show of hands – how many of you out there are familiar with this California native? He may not be one of the bigger names in dance music, although if Electro-House or Complextro are your cup of tea you likely are an avid fan of Jordan Atkins-Loria (yeah that’s Lucky Date’s real name). Most recently Lucky Date received high acclaim for his collaboration with Zedd and Ellie Goulding on the awesome “Fall Into the Sky”, which we posted a remix of the other day and which Dante the Don opened up his guest mix for us with.

“Freak” dropped a couple days ago and it’s three and a half minutes of high-energy Electro goodness. It has a sound eerily similar to the original mix of “Fall Into the Sky”, but by no means am I complaining because both are really good songs. Adding in the small samples of “GO!” and “Yeeeeah” really help electrify this already-amped-up track, but it’s the small things like this that I really tend to notice. Make sure you show Lucky Date some love and support on this one. Check out his Beatport Chart too!

Also I figured I’d post his most recent mix, “Who’s Lucky Vol. 5″ which features a ton of heavy-hitting Electro-House songs from the past year-ish. It’s mixed in great fashion and features some unique takes on a lot of my favorite tracks. Take a look at the track list after the jump!

Zedd, Alex Metric, and Tommie Sunshine Invade Boston’s House of Blues Tomorrow!

Tomorrow night, the Winter White Tour (MASS EDMC, NV Concepts, Big Night Entertainment Group) makes its stop at Boston’s House of Blues featuring the STACKED line-up of Zedd, Alex Metric, Tommie Sunshine, and resident DJ Bamboora (click to check out his exclusive guest mix for us). Most of you are  probably familiar with Zedd’s work and for better or worse you either love him or hate him, but you may not be privy to Alex Metric or Tommie Sunshine – neither of whom I’ve seen live but are two DJs I’m very excited to check out for the first time.

Tommie Sunshine is a legendary producer and DJ hailing from the original home of House music – Chicago. He has a very distinct look and has been very outspoken in the world of dance music over the past couple years. Most recently he received some attention when he was kicked off the decks at New York City’s W.i.P. (read why HERE), but I can assure you he is an act you want to see if you’re even a mild fan of House music. Check out his Growth EP in case you missed it. Also make sure to check out his very insightful interview with Zedd.

Alex Metric is in a class of his own. The British producer and DJ has managed to stay out of the mainstream limelight, but if you’re really following good dance music (or if you read our blog), then you already know what I’m talking about. Alex Metric’s “Rave Weapon” may be one of my favorite House tracks of all time, combining both a funky beat, catchy sample, and syncopation that makes it a true crowd-hyper. His most recent EP Ammunition Pt. 2 is fantastic and his mixes are always on point.

The Winter White Tour is in its second year and is showing no signs of slowing down. This year they’re doing it bigger and better, and stopping at one of Boston’s premier concert destinations shows us exactly that. If you’re going to the show please remember to wear your winter whites, as it is a themed party. And if you don’t have plans yet to go, make sure to grab a ticket ASAP because limited tickets are available and it WILL sell out. You can also go HERE for the Facebook event. Hope to see you there!

Live For The Drop

The is one of the best remixes that I’ve ever heard. Religion remixed the track “Fall Into The Sky” by Zedd & Lucky Date featuring Ellie Goulding perfectly. It’s got a magically hoodrat trap feel mixed with the sensual stylings of Ellie’s voice. The adrenaline pumping build up to the huge drop is my favorite part. I can imagine this one being played live at a show and the crowd going absolutely wild when the bass drops. Maybe we’ll have to see if Zedd will play it this upcoming Wednesday at the House Of Blues for all you fans around the boston area. Tickets are still on sale for Winter White Tour‘s next stop! I strongly suggest you buy your tickets hereNV Concepts puts on a show that you’ll never forget!

Zedd Clarity Remixes

Yesterday, Beatport released the full Remix package to Zedd’s Clarity. Clarity has been a huge crossover hit for Anton Zaslavski also know at Zedd, the young German electronic producer and DJ. With the success of Spectrum crossing over into the mainstream, Stache which was remixed by huge pop star Lady Gaga and featured in a nationwide HP commercial campaign; Clarity had to get its own spotlight and with the new remix package, I’m sure Clarity wont disappear anytime soon. The remix package includes remixes from Style of Eye, Headhunterz, Tiesto, Funkagenda, Torro Torro, Roy Rosenfeld, Felix Cartel, Nick Thayer, Shreddie Mercury, Swanky Tunes, and Brillz. That is quite the list, I have to say that my favorites, by far, are the Brillz and Tiesto remixes. Tiesto’s recent venture into the the heavier Electro world, goes well with the soft vocals of Foxes, very reminiscent of what we heard from Tiesto years go. But the Brillz Remix is something else, it goes from the angelic vocals of Foxes into a huge build up that just drops into some dirty dutch infused synths  riding along the 808 drum and the hi-hat. Purchase the whole package on Beatport, and take listen to the first releases below.
