We are now getting very comfortable with the collaborators SAVOY and Bright Lights as the team has released both a popular rock infused electro collab “I Dare You” and their more recent, more dubstep-esque endeavor “12 So Bad.” The team seams to work well together as each release shows their evolution and maturation in the music industry. They are back yet again with another new original this time the co-conspirators are also joined by a brand new addition, Giancarlo Pasquesi. Known in the music world by his moniker, Lobounce, the young DJ brings his signature “drippy bass” into the mix. This, like all of SAVOY’s music, is available for free download!
Continuing to raise the bar, the Colorado turned New York based electronic group SAVOY is happy to announce their debut full length album coinciding with hitting 100K fans on Facebook. Self Predator marks a turning page in the groups’ long history showcasing a vast array of music ranging from electro/dubstep to more of a glitch rock feel that I especially have enjoyed. SAVOY packed fourteen tracks into the album including two fantastic collaborations with LoBounce and Bright Lights as well as a VIP edit of their mega single, I’m in Need. Along with the release of the album, the boys of SAVOY are heading out on the second leg of their Get Lazer’d including a stop at the Winter X-Games in Aspen, CO! Be sure to listen in its’ entirety and if you enjoy, which you will, enjoy the free download! Yes, an entire album for free.
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything new from the laser fan boys, Savoy, most likely because they’ve been on a nonstop whirl wind of a tour. As they plan for another round of tour dates, hitting college towns across the country, they shed light on what we can expect on new music from the Colorado homies. Savoy announced a full length album, “Self Predator” that will be released on January 14th.. one can only hope they will offer it up for free like most of their other releases. The first track to come off the album is a VIP edit from their huge single I’m in Need, a fantastic single they released at the height of the dubstep craze. Continue reading for their entire tour schedule to see if they are headed your way!
After an immensely fun weekend at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, there is no doubt this was the biggest Global Dance Festival to date at Red Rocks! With Sunday almost selling out and great attendance for both Friday and Saturday there is no doubt that the weekend was a massive success. Although initially I had doubts about Global’s choice to use each night to sort of highlight a genre or audience type, but in the end I realized this was a great decision. As Friday brought out the best in live dance music acts, Saturday brought the dubstep and electro fiends, and Sunday rounded out the week nicely with about 9,000 or so bass heads in attendance!
Beats Antique stole the show for me on Friday as they flooded the stage with their usual Cirque Du Soleil type entertainment and amazing live performance leaving the crowd in awe. Saturday began with amazing bass filled sets from Basscrooks, Candyland, and Carnage that merely reaffirmed by belief in the immense talents all three posses. Arty, Sander, Emma Hewitt, and Savoy finished out the night down on the main stage leaving the crowd in an absolute frenzy. Well everybody said Sunday was the day to be there, and with amazing performances from Kill Paris and Sound Remedy to start off the night, it seemed Sunday just may have it all. With a massive back to back 2 hour set from Baauer and RL Grime followed by Griz, Gramatik, and finally Grizmatik, the crowd was stoked to say the least. Finally to close out the weekend, Mr. Tigran Mimosa smoked the place out leaving us all begging for more with his first true headlining set at Red Rocks.
All in all the weekend was a massive success and we at MMIBTY would like to thank everyone at Global Dance for all their hard work and efforts to make this amazing event happen each summer. Gorgeous weather combined with epic line ups made for the perfect storm of music, dancing, and partying that is so specific to the venue that is Red Rocks. Be sure to check out a bunch of tracks from the weekend in the set below as well as the full Photo Album from all 3 days of the gorgeous madness that was Global Dance Festival 2013 in Colorado!

Today is a good day indeed. One of my favorite electronic groups have released their newest EP upon the masses for free! I have been a huge fan of the Colorado kids of Savoy since first catching them live in a Heineken dome many years ago in Vegas. Having a live component in their shows helps them emphasize how rock plays such a significant role in their production. The first two tracks that Savoy lay down are rock based-EDM, heavy drum samples with that pulsating electro feel that you have to expect. However, the final two tracks definitely have a French house feel to them, perhaps drawing from acts like Justice and Daft Punk. Overall the EP is a great listen and is already finding its’ way into many playlists as we enter the summer festival season.
