We have been following Kicks n Licks for a long time, posting almost everything they release becuase it is down right awesome. After seeing them hit up the east coast finally on a tour with Robotic Pirate Monkey we are happy to present to you The Expedition EP! This four track release features all original, never before previewed material, that shows just how far these two have come in the studio. Still making heavy bass music, they jump between the dubstep and trap genres with ease as they take you on quite the expedition all for the price of a like if you would be so kind.
Our favorite gang of marauding buccaneers are back with a fresh stash of plundered treasure as they release yet another EP for the price of FREE. Robotic Pirate Monkey has consistently pumped out music that lives true to their signature sound, that of glitchy, bass driven beats. This EP is no exception, teaming up with the likes of The Digital Connection and homie Late Night Radio help make this collection of bullion a worthy find by any travelling sea rover. The Boulder boys aren’t satisfied by just offering you some free tuneage so they have departed on voyage across the country bringing along some of their best mates. Check the dates after the jump, but first jam out and if you like what you hear be sure to download and share.
Wobble just took on another meaning as the boys of Kicks N Licks have laid into the single Night Time by the The xx for a truly unofficial remix. Adding in a few metric tons of bass was a great start, but the sidechaining just took it over the top. KnL keep true to their melodic tunes as they take on the dreamy sounds of the almost flawless original by The xx. It’s hard to put into words what these guys did here, so I beg you to give it a listen. If you like the sound of it, I implore you to check out their newest Sound Waves mix that features countless unreleased tracks from the boys. And if you are still intrigued, I beseech you to catch them on tour with Robotic Pirate Monkey this spring!
In tradition of reppin’ all things Colorado and good in the world, I give you Dreamin’. The newest collaboration between Robotic Pirate Monkey and FNG to the Denver scene Late Night Radio. Late Night Radio just released his debut EP Concrete Collage to rave reviews so I am happy to see him branch out and link up with the trio of RPM. The track is ever thing you would come to expect from these guys, heavy basslines, synths so glitched your speakers wobble, and just an upbeat feeling that makes you happy to be a part of the Colorado culture. The perfect “spark one up” anthem as you get ready to ride some incredible powder. Speaking of making snow piles, RPM has just been announced to play at the third annual Snowball Music Festival. Give them some love and buy your tickets today!
Robotic Pirate Monkey has been no stranger to this blog in the past as they continue to innovate and evolve their sound and musical selection. Consistantly pumping out orginials for the low cost of free, it has been hard to ignore the groups’ slow rise to fame over the past few years. Now, you can find the dynamic threesome traveling around the states opening for some of our favorite acts as well as always fitting in time to play for the hometown fans in the Boulder/Denver area. Releasing remixes has been a staple of the RPM brand, although it has been a little over two years since they released the first of the RPM remix EP series – ‘Jungle Tales Vol.1′ and we are more excited then ever to share Vol.2 with you. Straying further from their dubstep roots we get a look at the future of RPM as they fuse melodic accents and some big bass into these classic tunes. This 5-track compilation remixes a variety of genres, featuring artists such as – The Rolling Stones, Lil Wayne, Slightly Stoopid, and more!
Slightly Stoopid – Top of the World (Robotic Pirate Monkey Remix)
Robotic Pirate Monkey – Northface Giggles (Robotic Pirate Monkey Remix)
Lil Wayne – Steady Mobbin (Robotic Pirate Monkey Remix)
Tim McMorris – Overwhelmed (Robotic Pirate Monkey Remix)
The Rolling Stones – She’s Like a Rainbow (Robotic Pirate Monkey Remix)
The local Colorado group that has seen exponential growth over the past few years is back with their first release from their upcoming album, Heat.wav, dropping August 13th. Having some fun with words the single mashes the group’s name and the title of a popular Flux song for an absolute banging sound. Banana Cannon maintains the glitched synth that RPM is known for, while introducing some serious wobbles throughout the track. This track was first played on HOT 107.1 on Friday, and I have been patiently waiting for its’ release since then. With RPM’s growing success, the Colorado community will get two changes in the near future to catch the trio live. First, at legendary Red Rocks opening for another Colorado group, SAVOY, then in September they will be playing along side Figure and Lazerdisk Party Sex at Cervantes Masterpiece. Please support the local talent!
September 7th: Red Rocks w/ SAVOY, Krewella, Sofi, and Modestep
September 21st: Cervantes w/ Figure, Lazerdisk Party Sex, and more
