Just Fine & Ecotek – The Godfather(Atik Remix)

Today we bring you a swanky new Trap tune from 17 year old Greek producer, Atik.  Remixing the likes of Ecotek and Just Fine’s musical interpretation of the legendary movie, Atik has given the song his own trap infused interpretation that will be sure to please. Starting the track off with the classical mob movie theme playing in the background we are teleported right into a scene from the movie.  With a few well timed samples Atik brings the track to life with some booty bouncing synth work.  At only age 17 this young producer shows that he can run with the big boys on this one. Check this out now and show him some love on his media pages.

Decadence NYE 2012-13 In Review & Ecotek’s Live Set

After some aggressive NYE pre-gaming we arrived at the awesome venue that is the Colorado Convention Center just in time to catch Flosstradamus, well half of Flosstradamus. Unfortunately it appears that @joshtradamus was spending the holidays at home with his family according to instagram, either way though Autobot put in some serious work and got the crowd on their feet. After Floss I had a moment to swing over to the Global Dance Stage and catch a bit of Krewella tearin’ it up. With dancers hanging from the ceiling and enough lasers to blind the crowd the Global Dance stage most definitely had it going on.

As eleven o’clock rolled around it was time for Mimosa to start what would be an epic hour and a half long set bringing us all into the new year. We were all honored to witness a batch of new Mimosa tracks drop, including his brand new remix of the 2 Chainz single I’m Different. After an amazing set from Mimosa including an epic countdown and a plethora of future trill sounds it was time for ATB and Zeds Dead!

Countdown To Launch: Skylab 2012

Fresh off the success of Global Dance Festival, Triad Dragons are partnering with the world-famous Beta Nightclub for the space-themed party that has become Denver’s largest indoor dance music event. SKYLAB 2012 is launching into the darkest depths of space and imagination with this year’s theme – Mission Blackout. The event will be held at the Denver Coliseum, the perfect venue for a pitch black party as fans are allowed to roam throughout the stadium seating and climb multiple levels to view the show from virtually 360 degrees.  Attendees are encouraged to embrace the darkness and come dressed as creatures of the night. This event was one of the highlights of my year and I advise everyone to start planning their launch into darkness!

Headlining the 18th annual SKYLAB is Porter Robinson, who at only 20 years old is recognize as one of the most talented producer/DJs in the game. Also gracing the stage is trance favorite Gareth Emery and Zedd – one of Germany’s hottest exports – who is kicking off his back to back tour with Porter later that week. And it couldn’t be a Colorado party without a handful of dubstep mavericks including Andy CDownlink, and the one and only Borgore! Local superstars Dragon, Ecotek, Jontron, Fury, Trajikk, and Kevin Alves will also perform. More acts across three stages will be announced in the coming weeks. And be sure to keep on the lookout for a ticket giveaway in the near future!

Doors open at 7 p.m. General admission and VIP tickets are now available.

Ecotek Ft. Paige – Forget About Tomorrow EP

Ecotek has become a staple in Denver nightlife holding residency at Beta Nightclub and helping to bring together the biggests acts every year for the Global Dance Festival at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Formally known as Kostas K, Ecotek has been essential in the rise of dance music in the Mile High City. With a constant stream of new material, Ecotek has ben able to reinvent himself time and time again. The following track made it into my Top Tracks of 2011 and features the same pairing of Ecotek and Paige to create an unbelievable orginal.

Ecotek ft Paige – Dreams Come True

Forget About Tomorrow brings us a similar lovestep feel that you can’t possible not love. Keeping a calm electro feel throughout the track Ecotek makes yet another amazing track. Included in the pack is a true house remix that lasts just over seven minutes with some serious buildups. And finally, fellow Beta Nightclub residents Trajikk and Joman have taken this somewhat peace track and have pumped in a thousand watts of bass into it. Their “Electrostep” remix lives up to the hype complete the three track collection.

2011 in Review: Editors’ Selections & The Breakthrough Artists of the Year

Well, here we finally are. The last day of 2011. When we set out to do this 12 day long review of all the best in EDM, we were really trying to bring you the most comprehensive coverage of everything that went down in the wide world of electronic music. While everyone else is talking about Charlie Sheen and Steve Jobs as the biggest components of 2011, we were giving you the best tracks from the whole year among the best music videos, mixes, live performers and even more. We put a lot of work into all that content, but now it’s time for our most exciting post of the year. Not only did we all decide on which artists made the most significant impact in 2011 were, but we also get the opportunity, as the writers of this blog, to share with you our favorite tracks of the year. We did our best to avoid overlap so each set should be a pure aural experience full of different and futuristic sounds that we bumped our heads to all year long. I hope you enjoy and, as a friend of mine recently said, we look forward to going out of 2011 with a bang and waking up in 2012 with a wicked headache.

I couldn’t begin to tell you how many songs were added to my collection in 2011. My ears are always open for that next great track – whether it’s from a podcast, a music festival, a DJ at a club, or my friends passing on word. I keep a running list on my phone of songs I need to download and as an aspiring DJ I need to constantly consider what will keep people moving on the dance floor.

My top 10 list was extremely difficult to put together and it’s gone through several revisions. As one can see, my favorites are mostly House and Electro-House, but I made sure to include a couple other sub-genres. This list is in no particular order:

Everyone knows that NYE is the biggest night of the year to party. And considering the world is going to end next year, this is the last one we’re gonna have! [expand title="Dec. 29-31: SnowGlobe Music Festival - South Lake Tahoe, CA"]

In true ski bum form The SnowGlobe Music Festival has gotten a late start to the game, but with epic powder and the headlining acts one can only wish they were lazy enough to not have NYE plans yet. With major headliners booked for awhile we are all patiently awaiting what kind of support SnowGlobe would be able to pull in. They surely didn’t disaapoint with the likes of Porter Robinson, Dillon Francis, Doctor P, Paper Diamond, Emancipator, and even Robotic Pirate Monkey all on the bill. Even if you aren’t a skier, this is an event not to be missed! First off, Lake Tahoe is world renown for its’ powder skiing, something that Epic Pass holders can take advantage all trip. Second, have you ever seen how the kids of Tahoe throw down, this is gonna be blackout central. And finally the quality of acts already announced rivals that of SnowBall’s inaugural event last March. Judging by the artists prior announced NYE events the lineup should look something like this…

[expand title="Dec. 31: Super You & Me w/ Laidback Luke, New York, NY"]

The wealth of talent descending on NYC is as insane as ever with every possible venue being booking by the biggest EDM acts in the world. Pacha NY has deemed Laidback Luke their guy to bring the new year and I couldn’t be happier. Laidback Luke is one of the most dynamic and talented DJ’s around with sets packed full of nonstop bangers. He is a personal favorite of mine and may be my top pick for events in NYC. It doesn’t hurt that Pacha NY is a state of the art venue that has hosted everyone in the game.

[expand title="Dec 31: New Years Eve Ball w/ Nero @ Webster Hall, New York, NY"]

I had the privilege to attend this event last year when Webster Hall played host to the Bloody Beetroots and had an absolutely stellar time. Webster Hall, easily one of my favorite venues of all time, has a night-long party featuring party favors, champagne, and a 6-hour premium top shelf bar (yes, that means Patrón and Hennessy) with the silver ticket for only $150. This and the fact that Nero will be throwing down the late night set makes this a must stop for your night. Drinks will be pouring till 6 I believe as is custom on NYE in NYC so if you already have plans for when the ball drops, you can still show up for the late-night show and keep the party going well into the daytime.

I can only image how wild this guy must get for New Years, I can only speculate how many drinks and drugs I would have attending this shit show.
