Deadmau5 – Aural Psynapse (Attlas Remix) [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Anyone who’s a fan of Deadmau5 likely knows that his 5 Years of mau5 compilation album dropped at the end of last month and with it came 12 remixes of the songs that helped boost the producer to super-stardom (in addition to CD 1 that features a best-of from Deadmau5 so far). While we haven’t covered the entire 22-song release at length here on MMIBTY, we have touched upon the Shiba San remix of “I Remember”. That is, of course, in addition to the many times we’ve written about Deadmau5 here and the fact that you’ve heard his music on a large scale over the past 5+ years. Last week mau5trap, Deadmau5’s label, released a free version of “Aural Psynapse” released by newcomer Attlas.

In trying to find more information on the mysterious Attlas I’ve come up pretty empty. The producer, who we assume is male by his website and social media, has only one track on his SoundCloud page. Additionally, he has a limited number of social media followers and no information about who he is listed on said social media pages. But you know what? I’m okay with that because Attlas’ remix of “Aural Psynapse” is just fantastic. The original version, found below, has the very type of sound Deadmau5 hangs his hat on. It’s kind of ravey, it’s got all the bleeps and bloops you’re accustomed to, and it gets crowds moving. The Attlas remix incorporates some new pad sounds that give it a slightly deeper, more progressive sound. The cadence of those pads has a nice rhythmic bounce and it’s a track I’ve played multiple times over the past week.

If you like what you hear show some love and enjoy the free download. I’m curious to see what comes from Attlas next!

deadmau5 & Kaskade – I Remember (Shiba San Remix)

When producers deadmau5 and Kaskade got together in 2008 they brought us the house anthem “I Remember”. “I Remember” is the type of song that is absolutely timeless, it’s haunting vocals from Haley Gibby have blared through the speakers of countless festivals, clubs and venues across the planet. The unedited track is nearly 10 minutes long and its radio edit has topped almost ever major publicized chart. With this magnitude it is easy to assume there must be remixes in the thousands, so it is surprising to see today, in 2014 almost seven years later, a remix that is making waves from a producer who you wouldn’t really expect to see it from.

On November 25th the mau5 released a remix package called “5 Years of Mau5″ that contained what was decided as the best ever deadmau5 tracks remixed by various artists. I expected some big names on it but what was surprising was seeing the producer Shiba San representing his remix of “I Remember”, and it is really good.

I have been a big Shiba San fan ever since I discovered the track “Okay” this February. The Ghetto House scene has seen some big triumphs this year with Amine Edge & Dance + Shiba San at the helm, and with this remix release on mau5trap records one can only assume good things are to come.

Take a listen to the remix here, and share.

HARD Day of the Dead 2014 Lineup Announced

Few festivals demonstrate such a pure dedication to music as much as those put on by HARD. Year after year, HARD puts together stunning lineups spanning all genres of electronic music for their flagship events, including HARD Summer, HARD Day of the Dead, and Holy Ship! to name a few.

Case in point: today’s announcement of the absolutely stacked HARD Day of the Dead lineup, just another in the long line of excellently billed HARD events. This year’s spooky party will be taking place on November 1 & 2 at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA, home of the L.A. County Fair. Bringing in the haunted vibes will be a spectacular cast of artists, including some exciting headliners and a shockingly good supporting bill.

Headliners include Knife Party, a live set by Pretty Lights, Diplo, Calvin Harris, Zedd, Bassnectar, and an exciting VS. set between big-room progressive superstars deadmau5 and Eric Prydz. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Day of the Dead’s insane lineup includes a sweet lower bill that features everything from future bass to deep house to live German techno. Some notable acts include the likes of Seven Lions, ODESZA, The Gaslamp Killer, AraabMuzik, Giraffage, Klangkarussell (live), Zeds Dead, RL Grime, Justin Martin, Christian Martin, Claude VonStroke, J. Phlip, Eats Everything, Cajmere, Pete Tong, Galantis, Benoit & Sergio, Booka Shade (live), Aeroplane, Thomas Jack, Felix Cartal, Valentino Khan, and so, so, so much more. Seriously, so much more. We’ve never quite seen a lineup like this. It’s insane.

Maybe take it easy on Halloween this year, because the following two days, it’s time to go HARD.

Grab your tickets HERE starting this Thursday, 8/28 at 10 a.m. PST.

Deadmau5 Releases Most Epic WIP Yet

After headlining Jay Z’s semi-new festival, Made In America, alongside Beyonce & Nine Inch Nails, dance music’s most polarizing figure, Deadmau5, has released what may be the finest display of talent we’ve seen from him in a while. In Pets 1 & 2, another long, melodic symphony, Zimmerman may very well have inadvertently created a trilogy for himself (Strobe and The Veldt compromising the first two parts). Progressive arpeggios overlay waves of melodic synthwork and vocal chops for seven minutes until things take a turn for the darker, more new wave Deadmau5 style and the song wraps up in an assortment of bass heavy chords and erie melodies. Amidst the sea of new albums coming out this fall, Deadmau5 has made no announcements, but I’d be willing to bet that his next full length work will be headed up by Pets.

Are you guys as excited as we are for Deadmau5 to release some long awaited new tracks? As of today, June 25th, he’s as free as bird from Ultra Records now that his “run off” period has expired. Deadmau5 aka Joel Zimmerman,  is now able to paint the town red and is clearly as giddy as a school girl about it from the looks of his multiple social media accounts. The dude has been 100% open and honest about his thoughts on the conflicts between him and his partnership at Ultra Records, and at times his comments have been a little controversial. But I love it. Here are just a few tweets that express his dissatisfaction with these guys:

@deadmau5: shout out to @ultrarecords on a real bang up job promoting my video by restricting it to territories. amazing promotional work as usual.” (Aug. 29, 2012)

@deadmau5: Haven’t been releasing any new stuff coz of a dick move on a “run off” period with a certain record company, but times runnin out. We good.” (Feb. 9, 2013)

@deadmau5:got a beautiful track goin.” (June 6, 2013)

@deadmau5: cant wait to release this one.. for reals… just let me wait until my “run off” period with ultra records ends. f those guys. june 25th. :D” (June 6, 2013)

As you can see, these issues have been springing up for a while. And with his pure pleasure, today he happily tweeted:

@deadmau5: F*CK YOU @ultrarecords IM OUT. :)”

Zimmerman has been working diligently in his temporary studio to produce some new stuff while he’s been patiently awaiting his release so he can start a new chapter in his music career. Although we’re unsure of when we’ll be able to get the full tracks, he posted a few previews of his new projects on his Soundcloud page, titled “f*ckmylife”. It has quite the ring to it, doesn’t it? From my personal opinion and the reaction of others, they’re going to be HUGE hits, especially because he’s been putting his blood, sweat, and tears into these bad boys through all of the bull Ultra Records has seemed to put him through. You can listen in on “Assume Control”, “Moog Bass + Modular”, “Suite 03″, “Monophobia”, and his collaboration with Kill The Noise, “Killthemau5″ down below! Everyone is giving some amazingly positive feedback and Deadmau5 is extrememly amped to get the ball rolling. I’m excited for him and you all should be too. He’s got a lot of potential and it’s all about to show…big time. He’s definitely got this one in the bag. Watch out everyone, there’s a new mau5 in town.
