Dub Edition Vol. 4

Here we go again! Dub Edition is back and bringing you those sweet deep dub sounds you crave. I got a couple different and interesting tracks for you today, which I all think show what is possible when people get around to getting creative with their dubstep and not just making a bunch of fucking noise. Because there’s more to dubstep than just noise.

Let me start out with this Hype Jones remix of Michael Jackson’s song “Maria”. The melodic intro, sample stabs and electro sounds really round out this track and make it a must for your collection.

PropaTingz, which sounds like more of a reggae group than a dubstep producer, gives us an amazing production here with a lot of soothing melody and vocals. You won’t know it’s a dubstep song until it builds into it about 2 minutes of the way through the 7 minute journey.

One producer that’s been getting a lot of attention lately is PatrickReza. His chillstep remixes have been tossed around the internet like the village whore and his style very much seems like what the masses are looking for these days. His most recent remix of Kleerup + Lykke Li’s song “Until We Bleed” has earned him massive amounts of attention and over 100K plays on SoundCloud in the 10 days it’s been out. My personal preference is for his other recent remix of Sia’s “Breathe Me”, however, which is a little less chilled out but has the same awesome sound.

I don’t want people to get the wrong idea here thinking that all I have is chillwave and lovestep for you… We can all appreciate something a little heavier. STOP… now make that motherfucker hammertime! Boson‘s remix of “Dance” by Big Sean sounds a lot like something you’d expect to hear at a Rusko show so you know it’s gonna make you bounce.

Last but not least, if you haven’t heard 501′s latest original “Headrush” featuring Belle Humble (aka the vocalist from the Freestylers “Cracks”, made popular by Flux Pavilion), get it immediately. 501 always does it right bridging the gap between shit, noisy dubstep and overly melodic and downtempo dub. This time is no exception.
