Well I think I’ve finally recovered from a thrilling new years and an even more out of control Holy Ship (more on that to come). And while I wish I made it down to Mexico for BPM, there’s a sliver of new music that made its way from la playa into my headphones thanks to the amazing Tech-House duo Prok & Fitch. Today Ben Prok & James Fitch, the UK duo who often find themselves associated with Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records, released their two-track EP called Raw Cut. While the A-side “Raw Cut” is a little more melodic and would probably appeal to a slightly wider audience, don’t sleep on the B-Side “Little Dance” which is very close to being a Techno banger. I prefer “Raw Cut” because of the classic-sounding House vocals but the whole EP shows why Prok & Fitch should be on every House fan’s radar. The boys rarely miss when it comes to productions and everything I’ve heard about their live shows tells me I need to [finally] see them when they come to San Francisco’s Vessel on January 22nd. I think DJ Mag said it best of Prok & Fitch: “a pinch of old-school underground, a dash of modernity, and a whole lot of dance-floor ready beats.” I named their song “Man With Soul” one of the best Tech-House songs from 2014 and now you can see why 2015 is bound to be their biggest year yet.
