Most music fans look at music festivals, concerts, and club nights as opportunities to enjoy music and to let loose. While that may ring true for me, I see those events as opportunities to network. My experiences aboard Holy Ship over the past two years have proven the rave cruise to be a source of music discovery, new friendships, and expanded networks. I was fortunate enough to make friends with a great group of Australians this year, and one of them runs the marketing and PR for Unknown Recordings, a young label out of Sydney. Browsing through UKNOWN’s SoundCloud page I found a couple gems that should ease you into your Monday mornings and set you up for a great week: remixes of “Eat Sleep Rave Repeat” and “Jack”.

A couple weeks back, our Chicago-based writer and underground House aficionado Ian (aka Oxtavius) posted one of his fantastic Goody Bags containing a bootleg remix of Fatboy Slim & Riva Starr’s “Eat Sleep Rave Repeat”. “Eat Sleep Rave Repeat” was undoubtedly one of the biggest tracks from 2013, thanks in part to an Acid House remix by Calvin Harris. The Goody Bag contained the Parkah K bootleg and it had Deep House elements with a darker Hot Since 82 sound embedded in it. Today I’m bringing you the Colour Castle remix of “Eat Sleep Rave Repeat” and this is an equally, if not better, Deep House take on the original. I like that this version is a bit shorter and has less of the vocals that are found in the original – I think we can all agree the vocals get a bit annoying after a while. I’m also partial to the fact that the “Eat sleep rave repeat” hook is reworked into a female voice on the Colour Castle remix. This one dropped a few weeks ago but it’s fresh to me and available for free download. Show this Sydney native some love! *click the shopping cart icon to download*

While I was browsing through Colour Castle’s SoundCloud page I noticed he reposted a remix of Breach’s “Jack” which we voted one of the best Tech-House songs of 2013. Given the massive popularity of “Jack”, and because it was one of my favorite songs from the past year, I’m always interested in hearing fresh takes on this one. Fear of Dawn is a duo out of Sydney who are new to me but given their close to 10,000 Facebook fans and awesome rework of “Jack”, are worthy of being paid attention to. The group incorporates a live element to their shows rarely found in House music these days, and their mixes and remixes on SoundCloud will be grabbing my attention for the remainder of today (pay particular attention to their remix of Outkast’s “The Way You Move”). *click the shopping cart icon to download*
