In my continuing love affair with all things Deep I’m always looking for the funkiest bass lines and craftiest vocal hooks. And sometimes when I’m least expecting it I discover these gems. I’ve spent a lot of time listening to the Deep House Cat Show on SoundCloud and not too long ago I noticed a track with G-House flavor that really stood out. The artist? Dan Clare. The track? “Magic City”. What really grabbed me was Dan Clare’s use of select lines from “The Setup” (remix) by Obie Trice, featuring Jadakiss, Lloyd Banks, Nate Dogg & Redman. Most Hip-Hop fans know Nate Dogg’s vocals (RIP) can lead to commercial success (kind of like a Calvin Harris production) and the use of Nate Dogg’s vocals with this Deep House tune truly resonated for me.
Dan Clare is a British DJ and Producer who has had a busy year. He’s a Mixology resident and this year he’s played alongside Miguel Campbell, Amine Edge & Dance, Maxxi Soundsystem, Crazy P, Huxley, Adana Twins, Finnebassen, James Silk, Kreature, Sion, Sharam Jey, Danny Daze and many more. Clare has releases on Hed Kandi, Ministry of Sound, Planet Acetate, Noiseporn and others. With over four million YouTube views & support from Radio 1, Kiss FM, and Capital FM it’s clear this guy is on the rise.
Today the Magic City EP was released on Beatport, featuring the original track, a remix by Sebb Aston, and a second original Dan Clare track called “Shorty Swing My Way”. If you like the tracks make sure to show some love!
