Oh lordy have I been waiting for this one to come out. And of course I dropped the ball on posting “Sushi Riddim” when it came out two weeks ago, but in my defense earlier this Summer Vato Gonzalez never revealed when it would be unleashed. As part of one of the most energy-driven podcasts I heard all Summer, the boys of W&W included Vato Gonzalez’s “Sushi Riddim” during episode 158 of their Mainstage radio show, which dropped all the way back on June 10. During any given podcast/live set/radio show, one or two songs usually stick out more than the rest and in this instance it was “Sushi Riddim”, which was my first exposure to Vato Gonzalez. If you’ve never heard of Gonzalez, he’s from the Netherlands and has a whopping 756,000 SoundCloud followers. I’ll admit with a name like Vato Gonzalez I was at first surprised to learn where he’s from, but if you listen to his tracks you can see he’s got a Dirty Dutch sound. Gonzalez has a series of “Riddim” songs, including “Ganja Riddim“, “Favela Riddim” and now “Sushi Riddim” which, to my surprise, is holding at the #7 spot on the Beatport Top 10 (I clearly haven’t looked at the list in a while). Vato Gonzalez also has remixes of big tracks like “Jah No Partial” and Calvin Harris’ “We’ll Be Coming Back” ft. Example. Though I haven’t heard “Sushi Riddim” played much out, I can only imagine it will increase in popularity over the coming weeks – get on it!
