New Mixes From Zeds Dead And Bassnectar

basszedsdead
I absolutely adore mixes, they are a good way to get a full stream of continuous music, exposure to new sounds that otherwise may have not interested you, and a good way to learn of new artists and tracks that may become popular in circulation soon. Thats why I was absolutely delighted to discover that not only had Zeds Dead released a new mix but the living legend Bassnectar as well. Both these names are incredible driving forces in our music culture today, and both of these artists are some of the few that have actually continued to impress me for years on end.

I feel like there are a lot of artists that when I first started listening to electronically produced music, have since been forgotten, at least by me. And I attribute these breakups to a more of a “it’s me not you” kind of thing or a “we are just at different places in our lives right now”, because I whole heartedly believe they are good talented people but as Blink 182 said “you just stopped being fun, you just bring me down”. What I mean by all this, is that as my ideas of music grow, so do my expectations, as well as my interests and willingness to explore and embrace new ideas and genres, this idea in itself is what keeps artists such as ZD and Bassnectar in the nexus of the vortex that is the ever changing and flowing river of music.

I have been loyal fans of Zeds Dead and Bassnectar for years, and will pay top dollar to go see them live every time they are around because it is indisputable that they deliver. Tying originality together with an eloquent dose of some of the more popular tastes in music at the moment, sprinkled in with something of the bizarre, yet all coned together with the feeling that brought us there in the first place; it really makes every experience a tasty treat. These two mixes I am featuring will emphasize what I am saying without a doubt.

To start out we can take a look at the mix by Zeds Dead called “Altered States Summer Mix”. Starting out very summer-ish, coaxing you into a false sense of security that soon transcends into a multi genre journey like a well written story, our heroic duo tackle a vast many of new musical genres but stay true to their bass-heavy roots and we all reap the rewards.

Lorin Ashton needs no introduction, he’s a man that has made such a big name with such a big sound. All of his mix tapes are so much fun to listen to; often providing the listener with a heavy dose of bass music, some new whacky stuff and a good mess of hip hop samples, this is no exception.
