Fehrplay Takes Us Deeper with Monte/Talk To Me

Another Monday, another boat load of new electronic music, and another day I had marked on my calendar for a Pryda Friends release. I’m really quite amazed at how much we’ve been writing about Norwegian DJ/producer Fehrplay over the past several months but I don’t think it can be debated how much he deserves it. When we interviewed him leading up to his performance at Wavefront Music Festival, Fehrplay was excited to talk about the impending release of “Monte” and “Talk To Me”. He said:

The new single coming on Pryda Friends in July is a double A side – ‘Monte’ and ‘Talk To Me’, really can’t wait for that to drop. It’s more in a deeper style (like previous release “Nightride”) but it’s still really hooky and made for the floor so It’ll be really interesting to see the response!

“Monte” starts out like a sunrise track – something soft and gentle with melodic licks and deep, classic House drums. Around 1:30, however, the track gets a little darker and we can see what Fehrplay means by “made for the floor”. The listener is treated to some vocal samples throughout the song which, as a whole, is a fantastic production. Beatport classifies “Talk To Me” as a Tech-House song but I think it remains just as Deep, if not deeper, than “Monte”. This tune uses synths with more of those old school House vibes and it definitely has more drive than “Monte”. We hear less vocal work but we do see a repeat of stellar production value.

I really can’t beat the drum enough for Fehrplay: his productions are top shelf, his mixes are dynamic, and his live sets truly take you on a journey through many different phases of House sub-genres. Make sure to show Fehrplay plenty of love and support and make sure to GRAB THE EP ON BEATPORT!
