Sunday Morning Trap Hour with Cazzette and Spaveech

So I guess I slept on this one. Last night I was listening to the highly underrated podcast Club Sessions with Cato K and he wrapped up episode 56 with the Cazzette Trap remix of Avicii’s “Alcoholic” (the original was a 2009 release, Cazzette’s remix was released on April 19). Not only that, but Cato K gave a shout out to the city of Boston after everything that has happened here with the Marathon bombings, so you know it was a special moment. I had a little “wait, what?!” moment when I heard that it was Cazzette who had Trapped out “Alcoholic”, which is one of my favorite Avicii songs (produced under the moniker Tim Berg). Originally the Dada Life remix had taken the cake for me, but this Trapleg Mix is causing me to reconsider. I had also been starting to lose faith in Cazzette, wondering if they were taking a turn for the mainstream worst, but I don’t think you can ever produce Trap music and become a dance music sellout (ok, maybe “The Harlem Shake” is the exception to the rule but Baauer will likely never chart on the Top 40 lists again, and you can thank viral YouTube videos for that). I don’t really need to say much more here… if you’re at all familiar with any version of “Alcoholic” and you want a fresh take on it, look no further.

The other song I have for you as part of my Sunday morning haze is the newest remix by New Jersey native Spaveech. I’ve been bringing you his always-on-point remixes for many months now, his previous one being his take on Sander Van Doorn’s “Joyenergizer”. Spaveech always manages to do something special with his remixes: not only does he take House anthems and turn them into thugged-out Trap tunes, but he also adds in elements of other songs. His remix of “Joyenergizer” featured samples of multiple Sander songs beyond “Joyenergizer”, and his remix of todays’ feature “Sunrise” by Tommy Trash & Aston Shuffle contains portions of “Oyster” by Moguai and “Cannonball” by Showtek. There’s even a vocal sample from A-Trak & Tommy Trash’s banger “Tuna Melt”. I really, really like everything about Spaveech’s remix of “Sunrise” and I hope you do too. Make sure to show him some love!
