I don’t know if there is a statute of limitations on posting sets from the BPM Festival, but damn, the badass-ness keeps coming out of the woodwork. In what is becoming a near weekly occurrence, again I will offer up more juicy material from the can’t-miss underground powerhouse festival in Playa Del Carmen (PDC, henceforth). This week we have Richy Ahmed’s performance from the Modern Love Affair party that occurred at La Santanera Nightclub in PDC. On that night, Richy spun along with other underground luminaries Miguel Campbell and Luca C. (of Hot Natured and Infinity Ink fame). For those not familiar with Richy, he is part of the newest, freshest wave of underground talent emerging from the UK. His 2012 was momentous to say the least, enjoying some acclaimed releases and remix work on Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels, and Mexa. However, it’s his presence in the Hot Creations brain trust and party circuit that are the most noteworthy. His mixing represents a forward thinking fusion of funk, hip hop, soul, techno, and new school deep house that we are seeing from a lot of the newer talent coming out of the UK. For proof, look no further than the mixes that I’ve included with today’s post. In addition, I’ve added a bonus set from another rising star out of the UK, Subb-an [Crosstown Rebels] [One Records]. This mix is from Damian Lazarus’/Crosstown Rebels Day Zero Festival that occurred in Playa Del Carmen directly BEFORE the BPM Festival. Needless to say it was a jam packed month of underground house and techno in PDC. Once again I will implore you check out this festival. Hotels and airfare are cheap.
