In Case You Missed It: Nicky Romero Put Down the Chainsaw on “Still the Same Man”

Maybe it’s just me but I feel like it’s been a while since Nicky Romero released a song that either wasn’t a chainsaw Electro-House destroyer (“Toulouse”, “Generation 303”, “Iron”) or a poppy track a la “Wild One Two”, “Like Home”, or “I Could Be the One”. In all honesty I feel like Nicky’s last big track that fits the above description is his remix of Green Velvet’s “Flash” which was a monster hit back in 2011 (released in 2010).

In case you missed it, Nicky Romero released this track “Still the Same Man” in collaboration with John Christian and Nilson last Monday February 4th. Released on Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records, it’s an upbeat and funky Tech-House song that upon hearing it for the first time made me immediately go and download it. Of course I heard it on Mark Knight’s weekly podcast (#150) which, by the way, I highly recommend you subscribe to if you like any sort of underground Tech-House and/or Deep House. I featured John Christian’s remix of Nicky Romero & Avicii’s “I Could Be the One” last week and it was quite the Electro-House banger. Maybe Nilson is the Tech-House influence on this track as he’s been known to combine groovy Tech and Progressive House on his productions. Either way, this one is a gem – crank it with your next cocktail.
