In Case You Missed It: RL Grime “Satisfaction” Remix, Kid Kamillon’s “Heads Will Roll” Remix

RL Grime has made quite a name for himself in the dance community, first under the name Clockwork and now as an authority in the growing trap scene. Well he is at it again, having just completed what may be his best remix to date. Taking Benny Benassi’s dance classic “Satisfaction” (one of the best music videos of all time), Grime gets into some dirty trap like only he can. His use of the vocal samples really makes this remix stand out to me. The sample of “and then just touch” is repeated to set up killer beat drops that feature bars from the original transformed into the trap style. This summer Grime did a great job with his “Mercy” remix, a song that made a lot of noise for the trap movement. The song was able to utilize the basic elements of Kanye West’s production handy work but made it sound totally unique. “Satisfaction” on the other hand sounds much more like a traditional remix than a stand alone song. This is not necessarily a bad thing as Rl Grime makes the bouncy beat sound great and let’s be real, who doesn’t love “Satisfaction”? He utilizes many different samples from the original rather than repeating the same sample or two over and over. If you are at all a fan of trap or anything Rl Grime has previously released, this song is for you!

A-Trak’s
remix of  “Heads Will Roll” by Yeah Yeah Yeahs is one of my personal favorite songs of all time. It gained main stream notoriety for both A-Trak and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Also, the track is just plain fun. Kid Kamillon seems to agree so he made a dope trap remix that may even cause A-Trak’s head to roll on the floor. Kid Kamillion does a great job incorporating the epic instrumental beginning from A-Trak’s remix to set up a killer trap drop. Trap fans will have a real hard time not dancing to this one. It keeps just the right amount of rhythm from the original while not overdoing the sampling or making the song an indistinguishable remix. There are trap releases that lose the true rap feel. This is not one of them. Kid Kamillon incorporates a great rap vibe without sacrificing any style from A-Trak’s remix or the trap genre. Look for this remix to be heard at trap shows for a while.
