Wow. All I can say is I wish I’d known about this track sooner. If you already did, pat yourself on the back. Seriously. Black Matter brings such an INSANE energy to this Katy Perry classic that you will literally not want it to end. Not much more I can say except that you will enjoy it…
Wow, every year I down play Halloween until the last possible minute, when I finally create a costume and head out for a night of festivities and debauchery. This year did not disappoint with shows lined up all weekend and girls pulling out all stops to make sure everyone knows how sexy they are before five months of snow. Well as much fun as I had this weekend it didn’t come close to the fun had by the people attending Escape from Wonderland in San Bernandino, CA. Unfortuantely, I have never attended a Halloween massive, but I can only image how great the sites and sounds are. Here are a few highlights of the Insomniac produced event.
Welcome to the end of an exhausting Halloween weekend! Even though the actual date hasn’t passed, I think I’d speak for most people in saying I got my fill of Halloween these past couple days. We were treated to Designer Drugs at Club Vinyl in Denver last night thanks to Justin and Suk over at Altered Egos and I couldn’t have asked for a much better Halloween show. While I was a little disappointed that nobody really dressed up for Halloween at the club, I was rightfully killing it dressed in my golfer garb. Plus, I did get to see some nice slutty Halloween outfits before the show anyways…
Not a whole lot of news and I’m tired as shit so let me just get on with it. First up, Avicii released a preview of his newest track which, like “Levels” was originally, just being shared with us lacking a title. This one’s been being referred to as ID2 (Levels was ID1, I guess) and here’s the HQ preview… Definitely more of the same everyone’s come to expect and love from the Swedish superstar.
Dada Life is set to put out a new version of their latest smash “Happy Violence” featuring vocals on Tuesday but they gave us a preview of what to expect with this Caveat remix. Definitely not very often you get a singalong with the Dada (except, of course, for their remix of Tim Berg’s “Alcoholic”) so this is a nice treat… I’m a fan of the lyrics too.
The Re:Generation documentary set to be released soon gave us a taste of what to expect from the film by giving us the track that Skrillex put together working with the remaining members of The Doors. I must say, being a fan of classic rock and The Doors, I was thouroughly impressed with how this track brought together the styles of both artists seamlessly.
How about some Steve Angello folks! One of everyone’s favorite Swedes takes Nero’s massive track and turns it into an equally impressive house banger. We’ve heard this one remixed by Danger and loved that one but this is simply a hyphy track that you must absolutely blast at high volume.
The dubstep duo that is Adventure Club made waves all over the internet when they released their Crave You remix a couple months ago and, to this day, I think it’s one of the best dubstep songs I’ve heard all year. What I love about that track is how accessible it is. I have a hard time believing that anyone could dislike that song. I don’t care if you hate Skrillex, Rusko, even Nero. I don’t care if you’ve tried and continuously fail to enjoy dubstep, drum and bass, whatever! Their style is just like I described it in the title – oozy and dripping bass which, when paired with amazing vocals, is just damn – no, excuse me – FUCKING good. Anyways, they just dropped their newest remix and it really makes me a very happy person. Same style, same quality, same amazing likability. I don’t care if every other single blog on the internet posts this song. In fact, I hope they do. People need to be aware of Adventure Club. (Oh, and did I mention they give all their music away for FREE?)
Who’s ready to get drunk and silly dressed as someone (or something) they’re not this weekend? We are! That’s right people… It’s Halloween weekend, or Halloweekend as all the cool kids call it, and it’s time to celebrate the fall and all things spooky. This year, we decided to put together a mix and a zip pack of a bunch of Halloween-appropriate spooky tracks that you can bump throughout your weekend of debauchery.
Well I am currently sitting in my history 65 class writing this, as much as I enjoy Toni Morrison I have other things on my mind. This will be the only class I will be attending today as last nights start of Nero and Porter Robinson’s North American Tour in Burlington was nothing short of epic! With the help of Nectar’s Presents, 2K Deep, and many more Memorial Auditorium was picked as the first stop on the tour, although this doesn’t seem to be travel related as their next show is in Vancouver tonight! These guys are jet setters and I am not sure they were even in Burlington for twelve hours. Either way this event set a new bar in my book for the budding electro venue that is Memorial Auditorium with amazing sound and an epic light show to match. The energy was amazing and when Porter started throwing down the likes of Auto Erotique’s banger Turn up the volume and his own brand new heavy moombahton track 100% In The Bitch and Burlington went nuts, we have already posted this track but I had to repost it after last night!
Then it was time for the Geniuses, Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray, that are Nero to take the stage and boy-o-boy did they bring the noise giving Vermont a little taste of everything they got. Sampling the likes of Flux Pavillion anthems Cracks and Basscannon. While also berating the crowd with an epic mix up of new and old Nero originals from Promises to The Recluse. Nero also at one point made it clear we all needed to CTFO and chill the fuck out, and then after that we got even Louder with the help of Sian Evan’s epic vocal track. Then to slow it all down Nero shot us up with Rob Sparx track Windscreen Sniper, and for the kill switch Nero hit us with System Of a Down’s classic CHOP SUEY! Which was nothing less than an epic noise-storm. So to sum all that up I am really hung over the whole show was an amazing success, I wanna thank Nero and Porter for making the trip, also Nectar’s Presents and everyone else who helped make this amazing event possible, and we here at MMIBTY are stoked for events to come!
P.S. Here are a couple treats from the likes of last night. -Soup
